SeanSho Says: I recently overheard someone mentioning what a "strange man" I am. I suppose that it's nothing I haven't heard before, but for some reason it sent my mind into loops of confusion. Am I strange like the guy who used to wear the funny hat with the rubber fish sticking out of it and stand outside the bank yelling "I GO FISHIN! I GO FISHIN!"?...Or am I strange in that "You're not like the other guys" kind of way?...Or is it the scary strange where you avoid being with me in dark alleys and parking ramps? Airport security strange? Mid 90s sensitive guy (see "Dishwalla") strange? Creepy bar guy strange? Boy band strange? Dumbass strange? Am I the only one who finds it funny that there's an organization called "The Jimmy Fund"? (I'm sure they do fine work over there).
Well how dissapointing can a show be? I was just ecstatic to see a show at Dave Grohls newly remodled 'Black Cat' in DC recently. Remy Zero had been at the radio station earlier in the day and were pretty nice. I told them I had been enjoying their CD (and it really isnt all THAT bad). The time came and a few of us loaded into the car and into the heart of the city for the big rock show. Technical problems, a big headed "My song is the theme to a WB show" attitude and what seemed to be a lack of desire to even be there (with the exception of the guitarist, who was rather impressive) all plagued the show from the time they took the stage. It was either brilliantly dull or I wasnt drunk.
Big Sho fun this month as SisterSho, NeiceSho, BabyDaddySho and BettySho all hit the east coast for some vacationing fun in NY and DC. Yep, the Delta Shuttle still runs every hour from Reagan National and it's still cheaper than the train (figure that one out). Of course it's no vacation for Jake Redman (the 4,353rd most important person in Washington DC radio) who has to work during the 2002 Family/Friend Spring Games but will use every non working minute to be a part of the fun. If you're planning a trip to the DC or NYC areas and would like to be a part of SeanSho fun (For tickets to all events e-mail seansho@seansho.com).
